New Resource: Research and Data for Advocates

Over the last 15 years, state lawmakers and corporate special interests have perfected the abuse of state preemption with the goal of upholding inequitable and often racist laws and structures.

The Local Solutions Support Center has updated its resource offering brief summaries of peer-reviewed empirical studies and select additional research demonstrating the impact of these laws. These summaries are available for anyone to use in whatever ways are most helpful, including advocates interested in (i) challenging abusive state preemption laws, and (ii) advancing home rule reform. Earlier versions of this resource were created in partnership with ChangeLab Solutions.

While not intended to be comprehensive, we welcome suggestions for additional research that could strengthen this resource. If you know of relevant studies we’ve missed, please email us at newresearch@supportdemocracy.org.
